Twelfth Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver! Coming Soon!
29 June 2015
Responding to countless requests from Doctor Who fans all over the world, The Wand Company is excited to announce that they are making an extending Twelfth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver universal remote control. The highly detailed and completely re-engineered working replica of the iconic Matt Smith / Peter Capaldi Sonic Screwdriver will be seen for the first time at San Diego Comic-Con on 8th July 2015, exclusively on the BBC America stand.
The new Sonic Screwdriver has not only been updated to reflect the subtle changes in the Twelfth Doctor’s coolest gadget, but now extends with a satisfying flick, just like the real hero prop, and includes a grip-mounted button, press-to-buzz action and the Wand Company’s powerful Any-TV-Off functionality.
Flickable extending clasps
Grip-located action button
Die-cast metal construction
FX Mode with 12 authentic Sonic sounds
12 secret Morse coded catchphrases to decipher
But of course, that’s not all – as you might expect from The Wand Company, this new Twelfth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver is also a fully functioning universal remote control.
The speechteach feature makes learning the gestures and programming the Sonic Screwdriver easy, and the intuitive gestures allow the user to make like The Doctor and and quickly take control of their home entertainment equipment – iPod docks, TVs, DVD and Bluray players, in fact, pretty much anything that is controlled by an infrared remote control.
“Since our Eleventh Doctor’s Sonic went on sale, we have had a constant stream of requests from fans of all ages asking us to make an extending version. It wasn’t easy to engineer a solidly reliable device that can withstand being repeatedly flicked to extend it, but we think we’ve nailed it, and I’m certain that any fan of Doctor Who is going to love it,” said Chris Barnardo, cofounder of The Wand Company.
The 1:1 scale Sonic Screwdriver can store up to 39 remote control commands, is equipped with 12 authentic sonic screwdriver sound effects, a customizable personal lock code, and has 12 secret Morse coded phrases from the Twelfth Doctor to decipher.
