On the evening of 10th January, we were thrilled to welcome Samuel L. Jackson and M. Night Shyamalan into our London store. There are some events that just make starry-eyed fans out of all of us, and this was no exception - and we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of you who turned up,and who queued so patiently, and to the people who’ve left such fantastic responses on Social Media! Our guests were there to sign posters for the movie GLASS, in which M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals - Unbreakable and Split - to make one explosive new thriller! And everyone who came to the event got a free ticket, given to them by M. Night Shyamalan and Samuel L. Jackson, to a media event and a special movie screening! WHAT AN EVENT THAT WAS!
CHRISTEL DEE and SIMON GUERRIER DISCUSS THE SECRETS OF THE WHONIVERSE Simon Guerrier is the co-author of Whographica and The Scientific Secrets of Doctor Who, and has written countless Who books, comics, audio plays and documentaries. Christel Dee is the presenter of Doctor Who: The Fan Show. She's a cosplayer, a convention enthusiast and a long-time Whovian, and her popular YouTube channel features interviews with fans and other cosplayers. And here, they discuss their out-of-this-world title ‘Doctor Who: The Women Who Lived’, which tells the tales of women throughout space and time - and lets us into some of the secrets of the Whoniverse!
We've had an amazing 2018 at Forbidden Planet It's been a bumper year for signings and in-store events, and we've had some fantastic celebrity guests. We've celebrated our fortieth birthday, seen Ash in London and Bats at West End Live, and we’ve hosted a couple of serious parties! The year kicked off in style, as we welcomed Bruce Campbell into the store... We’ve had a visit from Jason Momoa and James Wan, signing posters for Aquaman… A visit from Dan Fogler, with his brand new graphic novel... From TomSka, visiting Birmingham and Bristol, as well as our London store... From the founders of Aardman Animations, Peter Lord and David Sproxton - and (of course) Morph... Not to mention a couple of well-known faces from a certain BBC TV show! We've also welcomed some great guests at Head Office - like Jock, coming in to sign our fantastic Giclees... It's been a year of many signings and adventures, with an array of author guests including Ben Aaronovitch, Joanne Harris and Andy Weir… And not forgetting the Warlocks themselves, Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone, this year bringing with them the wonderful Charlie Higson... Though author John Gwynne brought something a little more... unusual... Comics creators have included Sarah Graley, Simon Bisley, Dan Abnett - and Alec Worley and Pye Parr, who had some special guests of their own... And there's been more going on than just signings - as you can see from our amazing Pusheen parties… And our fantastic event with the London Spitfire... We’ve had a great time at both MCM Comicons, with gorgeous new Doctor Who product… And we've even been in Theatre - at West End Live, with the Dark Knight himself… And – of course – we’ve celebrated our fortieth anniversary – remembering the early days of Denmark Street and some of the best times, and friends, and memories, from our four decades of trading… And you can find the rest of our archive (and some very familar faces) here. We've had a great year, and we're looking forward to an even better 2019. You can find new events for the New Year already being listed on our website!
