Frankly, this may be the most expensive toy I've ever owned. It may also be the most fan-girl giggle-inducing toy I've ever owned.
Pros: At 39 possible gestures, there was plenty of room for the most important commands on my stereo, TV, and DVD player, and I have 15-20 commands still free. Programming was pretty straightforward. I've wowed every relative and friend that has seen it - even convincing my brother that it was, indeed, sonic. The FX mode is a ridiculous time waster, so naturally I'm in love with it. It has a good, hefty feel to it, less like a toy and more like a prop. The "Quiet Control Mode" was a brilliant idea, eliminating the otherwise-great "Rrrrrrrrrrr"-noise when you're trying to adjust the volume during any particularly important part of the movie.
Cons: The price was pretty steep - out of reach for most geeks. Another caveat is that you need to set it down securely, once your CD or DVD is underway; any casual movement will trigger some kind of unwanted response. Additionally, when you do set it down, you've got to do it VERY slowly and gently, or whatever you've programmed "tap on the bottom" to do (in my case, muting the volume) will be cheerfully executed.
Neutral points: Have an extra set of batteries; you'll easily drain the first set programming the screwdriver. Also, you'll need an unromantic manual screwdriver (remember Season 4's "The Next Doctor"?) to put batteries in the sonic screwdriver. Ironic, but hey. I'm not complaining.
All told, this is my new favorite toy, definitely a keeper!

This is one of the best things I've ever bought. I couldn't resist buying it and knew that I would as soon as I saw it advertised, even with a £59.99 price tag. It's easy to use and program and it just looks fantastic. I assure you that nothing will ever come close to the feeling of turning on you telly by pointing at it with your very own Sonic Screwdriver!
Only one issue (I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this?), which to be honest isn't an issue as such, just a little irritating. My Sonic Screwdriver keeps telling me (not constantly, but often enough) that the battery is low, when it clearly isn't. Has anyone else experienced this?
Otherwise this is a brilliant product. Geronimo!

When this first arrived in the box I was filled with exitment and as I opened the box I was filled wih amazement. I found out that Forbidden Planet threw in a free packet of Jelly Babies. Hooray!!!
The Sonic itself was apsolutley beautiful, but the instructions although looking aesthetically pleasing they are a bit all over the place, it took me a while to set up and is not as difficult as it looks once done. And the weight of the Sonic feels nice too.
The display case is great and even continues to look alien underneath it. The Sonic itself fits in nicely and I love how it looks on display.
Overall this sonic, how good is it... Out of 10... 11
