Don't listen to any of the negative reviews made on this figure and the line! It's a fantastic piece, very nostalgic and very retro! I think all the haters for this line seem to be quite blind to the fact that these figures are supposed to represent the kind of action figures that would have been released in the 1970s. If you like retro, if you like nostalgia, you'll LOVE these!
The Master is certainly much better in hand as opposed to the prototype pictures. He is not the best from the line (so far) but he is certainly worth purchasing! He has a very nicely detailed head sculpt and is nicely clothed. His robes are made of a very nice and sturdy wool. His hood has a wire sewn into the front of it to allow for it to be posed in any desired position you wish, which is a great feature as opposed to a floppy piece of material that looks inaccurate (like the hoods on the soft-goods capes that Hasbro give their Star Wars figures).
The articulation is astounding! Joints of movement everywhere you look! Very posable indeed! The only problem with the articulation, in my opinion, is the shoulders as they don't seem to move fully. The joints are held together with rubber bands (like the old GI Joe figures from the 1980s), so I'm a bit worried that they may wear away in the future, although the rubber bands used do seem to be much thicker and stronger than those of the GI Joe figures. I think if you leave them in the sunlight for too long then they will shrink though, so I recommend you don't keep them in the sun for too long.
The accessories for this figure consist of the Key of Rassilon and the Sash of Rassilon. The key is nicely sculpted and detailed, however it's very thick and hence the Master can't actually hold it which is a big let down. The Sash, however, is fantastic! It's made of a cushion-like material and is very nice in all its golden glory. It fits very nicely around the neck and can be easily removed and applied.
All in all, I give the Retro Master figure from Big Bang Pow! a 7/10 for its excellent facial sculpt and wonderful woolly robes, however the Key of Rassilon accessory sadly lets it down. Other than that, a recommended figure that I urge you to add to your collection!
