Doctor Who Action Figures: Fifth Doctor & The Master: Planet Of Fire X
Cat No. 2148540 EAN 5029736036263 Handy Tag The Master Material Plastic Packaging blister pack Series Doctor Who Classic Doctor Who Supplier Code 03626 Types Toys Action Figures The Fifth Doctor and Turlough are on the island of Lanzarote because the TARDIS has detected a mysterious signal being transmitted from an unknown, recently salvaged artefact.
They meet a young American botany student named Peri Brown, whose stepfather has been replaced with a shape changing robot as part of a plot by the Master. He plans to bring the TARDIS to the planet Sarn, so he can use that world's revitalising Numismaton gas to restore his body, accidentally shrunken in an accident.
The Master (Anthony Ainley) is apparently defeated when the stream of gas turns to a normal hot flame. The Doctor destroys the shape changing robot, Kamelion, at the robot's own bidding as it has become completely unstable. Turlough leaves to return home, while Peri leaves with the Doctor.

Whilst it is great to have The Master finally in figure form, I don't think pairing him up with the fifth Doctor was the best combination.
The fifth Doctor doesn't lend himself very well to two packs for the simple reason that he wore the same clothes throughout his era.
We have had quite a few releases of the fifth Doctor already, so it's very hard to keep each release of him fresh.
Character Options have added a hat which reminds me of the classic Simpsons episode where Lisa creates a doll to combat Malibu Stacys dumbing down of young girls in Springfield. In response the Malibu Stacy creators rush release a new doll, where the only difference from their last release is that they have added a hat!
So, we have the same fifth Doctor which many of us have already but with a hat!
He also has the celery on his lapel that the single release did not have but 11 figure Doctor set does have.
Moving on to the Master - there's a new, excellent head sculpt.
But the body just isn't right.
Why didn't Character Options do the classic crushed velvet look? They've already reused the whole of the fifth Doctor for this release, why not do a totally new body for the Master.
This set was released at the same time as the newly regenerated fifth Doctor in the Fourth Doctors old togs - why didn't they pair up the Master with the Fourth Doctor in his season 18 clothes - it would make sense because Logopolis was the first full story Anthony Ainley played the part of the Master.
Character Options would have saved money because they were using the same Doctors body for both releases.
In conclusion, I would steer clear of this set. Maybe had they done the classic Anthony Ainley Master, then there would be a reason to buy this but the Master in a suit just doesn't cut it.
Wait for a future release!

The Fifth Doctor and Master figure set I think is not the best figure set we have got from San Diego comic con. When I got this I thought it was brill but when I got it out the packerging there were things I wasn't pleased with.
Starting of with the Fifth Doctor. It is the same 5th Doctor from the Eleven Doctor set, it has a new head as it has a hat but thats the only diffrence I think they could of put a diffrent figure in there such as Peri or even the rani to make it a renegade timelord set or something, so its not the best but if you are a fan of the 5th Doctor then its nice to add to the collection now on to the Master. The Master who is played by Anthony Ainley is the first human Master from the classic series, The Head sculpt is totally new I think it looks amazingly like Ainley but the body is so bad,
When you pay £25 you expect alot but what theve done is so price cutting what they've used for the body is the series 3 master figure body They've changed some bits but most of its the same they've got the same hand sculpts with the same rings where he never wore rings!!!. So over all it isnt a very good set you pay alot for not very good stuff and all Character are doing now are bringing out every classic figure for 15 or 2 set for 25 its getting ridiculous.
Doctor Who: Action Figures: Fifth Doctor & The Master: Planet Of Fire 4 out of 5 starsThe Ultimate Rivalry! ,

This set at first glance is what classic Dr Who fans would want, the ultimate rivalry of Anthony Ainley's Master vs Peter's Doctor! Again the detail especially with the Master is at the high level standard that you would hope for given the price! £25 is a little off putting for people who can't really afford the luxury of splashing on something that may not be touched and kept in the box, even if it is an exclusive, something in the region of £20 would be more appropriate!
Lets hope that there is a box set with Jon Pertwee and Roger Delgado which will be an even bigger rivalry soon!
