Doctor Who: Flight Controlled TARDIS
3 out of 5 stars A nice display piece, but not anything special., July 9, 2010 - By JTMitchell87

I had purchased this after owning the previous "Flight Control" TARDIS and had similar expectations for what it could or couldn't do. Sounds for taking off, landing, "flight", interior sounds? All there. All the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The top beacon still lights up and flashes, but that's it in terms of lighting.

That's right; unlike the previous version there are no interior lights to speak of. Perhaps I'm just spoiled, but when I opened the TARDIS I fully expected to see what the backdrop looked like and I can't imagine adding three bulbs would have increased the cost drastically. As a way of rubbing salt in the wound; stock art on the box and online sites show some sort of light shining on the floor... Only a little misleading.

Another thing that bugs me is the overall color. While there is some difference from the previous one it's still too dark of a blue. With quotes like "The most brilliant blue you've ever seen" appearing in the show itself I expected it to be more vibrant and brighter and was a little disappointed. Upon standing it next to my older TARDIS the two look almost identical aside from the painted windows and a new gloss.

However, it is still a well made toy and it's price is certainly lower than what the older Flight Control is going for on third party sites like eBay. If you want a decent TARDIS for display and are on a budget this one should do nicely. If not? Spend some extra and get the older model.

2 out of 5 stars Shabby at best! Save your money!, July 5, 2010 - By sam20

Mine arrived today! I'd been waiting in specially for it, wishIi haddnt bothered! Its tacky, unfinished off, the sound card is nothing compared to the one used in the 9-10th doctors tardis! and the only light on the whole thing is the top lantern! Everything else is dark and dingy! The interior looks like cardbord stuck in by a child and the over all quality is poor at best! I would avoid like the plague and buy the older model! Save your money!

WOW! I love this TARDIS! I've always loved the TARDIS! Now I've got it! The sounds and lights are brilliant and you can even see the original police phone inside its little door!
