out of 5 starsClassic dalek sets., - By Shutterbug
I've done some imaging work for a dalek site myself showing the different models through the ages.
The sets are very authentic, considering the size, and if you puruse the "museum of Skaro" on the net, you will agree that these sets are streets ahead of most of the previous merchandise eg the Louis Marx, Fisher and Hertz offerings in this respect. Many of these were based on the designer's early prototype sketches.
The joints are a bit stiff on some of them and there's some fairly sloppy paint work on the odd one. The eyes do come out if pulled, which might be an issue if there's young kids about.
Having said that they are good value, and very faithful to the originals.
The black and gold dalek from Planet was modled on one owned by Terry Nation, made as promotional work for his stage plays. It was constructed from bits of the more colourful Aaru film daleks. The base is characteristic of a film dalek, designed like the similar invasion earth models to work on location incorperating a tricycle rather than the usual casters. This was loaned to the beeb in the 70s as an almighty boss dalek, head of the supreme council, whatever that means.
In answer to the previous review.. Yes, an awful lot of repainting does seem to go on on Skaro. But significant changes to the base, shoulders and guns have happend over the years.
Over all full marks for value, authenticty, and variety, questions on build quality.

"The Dead Planet" Dalek:
This is the silver and blue one shown. It has the standard dalek articulation (arms, neck and eye). The eye is subject to the rumour that they just fall out, well they don't. A fine figure. I would give it a 7/10.The "Planet of the Daleks" Dalek:
This is the gold and black one shown. Once again the standard dalek articulation. It has purple lights which make it seem a bit parculiar, but this is without the doubt the best in the set. However there is one minor problem, the head is a bit wobbly on my one. I don't know if anyone else has that but mine does. It does though deserve a 9/10.The "Genesis of the Daleks" Dalek
This is the grey and black dalek, with the same articulation. The head on my one is incredibly stiff but it will move with force. The only other thing to say about this is that it's the second best in the set. An 8/10.You must buy this set, it's a faithful representation of three classic daleks. I do not own the second set yet, but when I do it should be good because they are simple repaints and have a couple of tweaks here and there, get both.
