Scientist Dr Bruce Banner oversees the detonation of an experimental gamma bomb. Just before the explosion a teenager, Rick Jones, strays in the danger area. Dr Banner saves the boy but is blasted with a full dose of gamma rays. That night he undergoes the very first transformation into the super-strong, sometimes near-mindless brute known as The Hulk.
