Star Trek: The Original Series: Tricorder
4 out of 5 stars science tricorder, July 23, 2009 - By apollo

Be aware this is the science tricorder not the medical.
The finish is pretty good for the price. All silver parts are painted plastic but on mine the finish is pretty good. The actual item you get is not the same as shown in the photo.
You'll notice that the screen is not grey as in the series but shows a graphic with back lights to one side. The led indicators are not all blue either. They look clear till you switch it on then you get 2 blue & one orange in the centre.
The tricorder sound is pretty good plus the moire spins too. The strap is adjustable & seems about the right length on me & i'm 6'4 tall & pretty tubby. The voice sounds do leave a lot to be desired but for the price i'm not complaining

There is a scanner too. not the one mccoy uses as this is the science version. there is an led in it that changes colour but no sound. The scanner is a bit of a let down though. it does look very plasticy compared to the tricorder itself.

Overall I'm pleased I bought it & for the money you really can't go far wrong. I'll be taking mine apart & painting the screen blue/grey from the inside as i really don't like the graphic.
