Quite a brilliant story that really works! In Part One, the Doctor meets the Vardans and begins acting strangly, he returns to Gallifrey and claims he is the President, the ceremony takes place. The Doctor's first order is to banish Leela. She casues trouble. K9 then destroys the transduction barrier and the Vardans take control. Leela returns to the citadel and K9 and the Doctor devise a plan to get rid of the Vardans. Shortly after the Vardans leave, the Sontarans invade. They chase him through the TARDIS, and using the Great Key Of Rassilon, they stop them from allowing the Sontaran fleet from invading and destroying the Galaxy.
Overall, a good story but the Vardans are dissapointing and the story lacks Sontaran activity as they only appear in Parts 4,5 and 6
