A Yakuza thug named Katsuji travels with his brother all the way to Spain to try and woo beautiful TV news reporter Yuka Katsuragi. Just as Yuka inevitably rebukes Katsuji, a terrible earthquake hits, trapping the three of them, along with four high-schoolers on a field trip, deep underground. There a mysterious old woman who prophesies that the wealthy nation of Japan will fall, just as ancient Carthage did. The old women then sends the incredulous group to see the world of the future with their own eyes, a future of desolation and death...
